      Medical  -  While other companies may offer to pay a portion of your medical premiums—Vision offers full-time employees, fully-paid monthly premiums for:

      Life and Disability Insurance  -  Vision offers full-time employees, fully paid monthly premiums for:

      • Basic Life, Accidental Death & Personal Loss.  Employee only
      • Short and Long Term Disability. Employee only

       

      401K  -  Vision makes discretionary matching contributions on a per payroll basis of 100% of the employee’s salary up to 3% of eligible compensation.  Both the Company match and your employee contributions are 100% vested.

       

      Paid Time Off (PTO)  -  Vision believes that taking time off from work for vacation, rest, relaxation and recovery is important to maintaining employee mental and physical health, as well as productivity and therefore provides paid time off (PTO) to full-time employees to be away from work due to vacation, illness or other personal requirements.

       

      Paid Holidays  -  Full-time employees are eligible for nine paid holidays each calendar year and one additional “floating” holiday.

       

      Additional Paid Leave  -  In addition to PTO for vacation/illness and Vision holidays, Vision pays for an employee’s time off for Bereavement Leave when a death occurs in an employee’s family and for Parental Leave in the event of a birth to a Vision employee or the employee’s spouse.

       

      Employee Assistance Program  -  Vision provides free, confidential counseling and assistance for employees and their immediate family who are experiencing any of life’s challenges to help you resolve a wide range of personal and/or financial problems.

       

      On-Line Training Program  -  Through Vision’s business partnership with ADP, TotalSource University offers a wide variety of free training programs on topics related to your current position and in areas that can help you take your career to the next level.

        Primary Task

        Researches, designs, and develops computer software systems, in conjunction with hardware product development, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.  Reports to Chief Operating Officer

         

        Additional Tasks

        • Technical contributor with demonstrated design skills; is assigned difficult technical problems within domain of expertise.
        • Plans, designs, develops and tests software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products.
        • Designs, develops, operates, maintains, and documents software to be applied to engineering, scientific, and manufacturing requirements.
        • Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of technical engineering products.
        • Plans and executes significant project tasks or small projects.
        • Ability to solve technologically challenging problems
        • Displays good depth of knowledge.
        • Works to optimize tasks and resources in support of multiple projects.
        • Performs continuous process improvement

         

        Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

        • U.S. Citizen
        • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
        • BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
        • Demonstrated proficiency in C/C++ language, C standard library and C++ STL knowledge
        • Secondary language experience in Python, PIC32-C, x86_64 assembly, Open GLSL, bash/awk/sed/perl/tcsh, Matlab, Labview
        • Demonstrated pattern of continuous learning.
        • Meets goals and actively seeks opportunities to enhance business area.
        • Able to solve multiple technical problems across multiple development phases.
        • Embraces risk and defines reasonable trade space from which the team can operate.

        • Experience with the Linux kernel
        • Experience using Red-Hat distributions especially the Real-Time kernel
        • Experience using the Boost libraries
        • Experience working in the field (remote locations, bad weather, extreme schedules)
        • Computer building skills (ie picking parts + assembling yourself)
        • Electronics skills (soldering, microcontroller use)
        • Contributions to open source projects (with a focus on packages included with common linux distros)
        • Experience with GTK 2/3, OpenGL, gdb (gnu debugger), valgrind, camera physics, control systems

         

        Work Location

        Primary work location is Merritt Island Florida.  Alternate work locations include Kennedy Space Center and various government customer sites (potentially worldwide).

         

        Travel

        Position requires up to 15% travel

        Yes.  The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance is required.  The Company will assist new hires through the process of obtaining a clearance.  Failure to obtain a clearance in a reasonable time period, or maintain a clearance, is grounds for termination.
